Our client, a public organization in Lower Austria, wanted to assess the well-being of people working in healthcare and nursing professions in Austria. The results aimed to provide insights into the satisfaction and challenges of these professions to implement targeted measures for improving working conditions.

In 2023, we conducted a comprehensive online survey with nearly 3000 participants. This allowed us to create a detailed and representative picture of the situation of employees in these vital professions.

Employees in healthcare and nursing professions in Lower Austria are only moderately satisfied with their jobs and show a medium level of commitment to their profession. More negative than positive associations are linked with the profession (58% to 34%). A key factor for satisfaction and commitment is the compatibility of family and work. The job negatively affects the well-being of employees: 38% are physically exhausted in the evening, and 34% suffer from back pain. At the top of the wish list are higher salaries, more staff, and reduced working hours with the same pay.

The results were published and widely covered by the press. We are pleased to have provided data in this project that highlights the challenging situation of employees in healthcare and nursing professions and suggests solutions. It’s a great feeling when market research helps to spotlight important societal issues and propose potential improvements.
